Introduction: Leonard Bernstein
Dustjacket artwork: Andy Warhol
Book description: An excellent history of The Beatles, detailing the coming together of the group and their rapid success. An abundance of interesting and unique photographs showing The Beatles in early life, as a fledgling group, and later, as one of the most successful pop groups of all time.
Note: An old friend of The Beatles, Andy Warhol was commissioned to undertake the dustjacket for the book. In true Warhol style, he decided on a double dustjacket, with one hidden under the other. The top dustjacket is laminated, and bears book title, along with Warhol’s signature to the lower right. The inner dustjacket is without lamination, without book title, and simply bears his signature. Most inner dust jackets are missing, as they have been taken off and framed independantly of the book. This copy of the book retains both outer and inner dust jackets.
