Ferraris Of The 1950s & 1960s - Making The Difference
Sub Heading: Coachbuilt Road-going Ferraris of the Fifties and Sixties
Authors: Angelo Tito Anselmi with Marcel Massini
Book description: Compiled by an expert in the industrial history of the automobile, and by the most authoritative scholar on Ferrari manufacturing, this publication is a study of design, a critical analysis and an album illustrating the huge variety of bodies created for Ferrari cars in the dynamic period that preceded the imposition of absolute order and precision by Pinin-Farinas quasi-monopoly.
With a sweeping introduction by Griffith Borgeson, the texts are also enhanced by personal testimonials and first-hand comments by Carlo Felice Bianchi Anderloni, Giotto Bizzarrini, Gianpaolo Boano, Giuseppe Busso, Piero Fontana, Giannino Marzotto, Sergio Scaglietti and Gianni Zagato. The second volume has a special section in which the history of Carrozzeria Vignale is written by a direct observer: Alfredo Vignales best-loved nephew, Alfredo Zanellato Vignale, who was to have worked with him as an assistant and then taken over the helm of the company.
A duotone printing on top-quality heavy art paper, the two-volume slipcase set has a total of 512 pages in 27.5 x 24 cm trim size, the weight is 3 kilogramms. It contains about 350 pictures exclusively period photographs of 110 different Ferraris when they first appeared in the Maranello area, or in the streets of the cities where the coachbuilders were located. Most of the pictures have never been published before, and this has been made possible by special access to photographic archives which have been closed for decades. Appearing in alphabetical order, each of the sixteen coachbuilders who created Ferrari bodies is described in a brief monographic entry with detailed information never previously published. Each entry is accompanied by illustrations of their work. All the texts and extensive captions appear in English and Italian.
Format: Two volume casebound with slipcase. 512 pages with over 350 photographs.
